Not sure how many have tried this or not but I shop at fresh and easy quite alot and I tried some of the gardein products latley and I love it. They are soy based but the fat content, protein, etc is great in these products. For tonight I steammed some veggies and added two cups of veggies to the bbq pulled chicken gardein product and it was yummy. Anyone else try these products?.

Oh and I was a meat and potatoes kinda guy and now I am eating soy chicken products, wow ;-).

I LOVEEE GARDEIN! Be careful with some of the products w/added sauces. I got the tuscan chicken and the package said it was "OP" but the sauce changes the nutritional values. As far as the pulled bbq shreds are concerned I think they have too many carbs (16) and too little protein (19). I do eat the "chicken" scallopini and beefLESS tips regularly and a double serving of either is 1 lean..

This is what Nutrisystem said regarding guidelines:.

"A Lean and Green meal should provide 250-400 calories, more than 25 g of protein, less than 15 g of carbohydrate (the lower, the better). Daily fat should be between 10-30 g with at least 10 g with your Lean and Green meal."..

I use their products and find the best variety at Ralphs but it depends on what Ralph's I go to as some do not have as much of the variety as other Ralphs...

I love Gardein! I was talking to the checker at Whole Foods about them last night - they seemed to burst onto the scene from nowhere in an explosion of fake meats! The beefless tips rock and I find a L&G portion of them super filling. I heat them up with some olive oil spray in a frying pan on the stove top, then when they are about done I add veggies and condiments. Nom nom nom....

If anyone has any recipe ideas for the tips, scallopini, or other Gardien faux meat please post them. I am a noob of a cook...

My grocer doesn't carry much without sauce and the sauce really adds the carbs. I'm pretty much limited to the scallopini..

For L&G, I keep it simple and use the Gardien chik'n scallopini sliced over salad. I've considered a chik'n salad type creation (with celery, a little dressing, maybe a condiment of red onion) for a sandwich, but haven't tried it yet. BTW, I make a flat bread out of Medifast oatmeal or pancakes for the sandwich. I've done it with cheese (I love grilled cheese)....

How do you work such magic? I have made oat cakes and pancake muffins but never a breadlike object...

I think all the ones with sauces - the sauces are in lil packets so they are optional to use...
