Well, I've finely bit the bullett, and today is my first day on Medifast. My DH is sooo supportive of me...but I don't think he realizes how big a bi*ch I can be when I'm trying to lose weight!! LOL We've only been married for a few months over a year, so he hasn't experienced that side of me yet!!.

My biggest challenge is going to be to stay on plan while still feeding my teenaged son and DH, who do not have weight issues.

I appreciate any any support you'all can provide, Thank you!!.

You won't be a b..... on this program. You will feel GREAT, have tons of energy, and be smiling all the time. EXPECT to be grouchy and you will be. EXPECT to be happy, and you will be.

This program is life changing, and not a temporary diet to lose a few pounds. Make the commitment to do it 100%, each package, each day, one day at a time. Get ready to be truly amazed at your transformation. It's the last "diet' you'll ever have to do..

Blessings,.

Hello and welcome!.

I hear you about feeding others while on the plan. I'm feeding 5 children, ages 2, 4, 6, 12 and 13 who eat a LOT of yummy things! I am also feeding a husband who is also a very healthy weight. AND, we homeschool, so my kids are with me (AND EATING!) 24/7..

But, I have to agree with E. I am generally NOT hungry or bitchy on this plan. I do have my hungry days but have learned to celebrate them b/c they usually come just before a 1-2 lb. loss..

I was a B for the first week. I started on the same day my TOM came...so I was pissy not knowing what to expect.

You get into a routine with feeding the family and yourself. At my house we all need to eat healthier (i was the only one not blessed with skinnyness in my extnd fam) so the L&G at dinner time - everyone eats what I eat, plus they get other sides. But they are healthy none the less. Its good to have a sit down meal with the fam and eat together. Thats mho... Breakfast at my house is usually on your own anyways, my youngest keeps asking me why I get pancakes? hahaha....Lunch - if I am home I sit down with them and eat my bar, shake or whatever with a HUGE glass of water. That part is not so easy...but I am dealing...

You can do it! Push through this week and voila it will get a little simpler as you go!.

These boards are so helpful!.

Thank you for the replies!! I cannot imagine trying to feed everyone else things I cannot eat (my son LOVES spaghetti, which is my downfall)....I know once I get into the groove I will do well, it's just the constant temptation that I cannot stand! BUT I am committed, and DH is behind me all the way, so I know I can do this!! Thanks for the words of encouragement!.

I agree with Jenn, it's a whole lifestyle change and I want my family to be healthy too, so I'll make them what I'm eating with some extras. For myself, if I don't change the way we all eat then what's the point? Even though my kids are thin they could still be unhealthy if I feed them things that aren't healthy. Does that make sense? My Husband is a whole other issue cause he eats fast food all the time. He is slowly changing his attitude, but for the most part I just worry about health for the kids and pray that he will come around. He works a lot to their exposure to Hubby's bad choices are minimal. Praying you stick with it and remember your goal of optimal health and longevity!.

Thanks for the great ideas! Looks like I need to start feeding family L&G too...with maybe a little extra ooomph just for them. Looks like it's time to make out a grocery list!! I'm really not that high-maintenance!!.

I cook L&G for all of us and have the entire 8 months I have been here. I do make them a potatoe or rice.

Just breathe when you are having a b***hy day. I still have a few. I like to eat. Seeing everyone else eat even in public can set me in a tailspin. I was extremely moody my first two weeks then it mellowed out. Just prepare your family..

Welcome to the plan! You are going to do great! So your "boys" will have to put up with you being a bit cranky maybe, but you will have to put up with watching them eat crap while you do this. I think that's an equal trade off! .

Good luck and good losses to you!!!.

Have you thought of making YOUR spaghetti out of spaghetti squash? It's on the L&G list of vegetables. Just watch the sauce amount and you can even have a little Parmesan cheese on top!.

Ain't that the truth!! Never thought of it that way!.

Hmmmm, looks like I need to start looking up some recipes!! I am lucky that "My Guys" like veggies...and DH just got a veggie grilling basket, which really adds great flavor!.

The first couple days are the hardest while you detox from carbs and sugars etc. You will probably be just as nice as you were before starting Medifast after the first week.

Dundeegal - can you tell me more about the spaghetti squash. Okay I am going to ask a very stupid question - does the squash already have the spaghetti's inside or do you have to cook the squash and use some crazy gadget to make the spaghetti? .

Scrappy tink - good for you. You will be fine after the first week. I was a total B* the first week because I was withdrawling from everything and I was irritable and hungry. This is my 2nd week and I feel great!.

Scrappy tink - My husband and I both started on Medifast last Friday, and I have struggled most with coming up with L & G meals that fit the plan & are delicious, too. I found the Medifast lean & green recipes I've made to be good (especially the Taco Salad from the book), and I also stumbled upon Time Savor Gourmet online. Stacey Hawkins herself uses Medifast and is now called the Queen of Lean & Green. Look up her website for recipes, and check out her videos on You Tube. She gives excellent suggestions for making L & G meals that can be made for the entire family with some simple additions for those not on MF.

Good luck to you!.

Thanks for the tips!! I'm reading this while I'm eating my 2nd Medifast meal of the day "Chili". Trying to figure out the mystery ingredients!.

Hey congrats on starting your new journey ahead of you! yOU CAN DO THIS!.

Well, I still feed two teenagers (with healthy weight) and a Hubby (also healthy weight) nutritious meals three times a day and I can deal with it...I'm sure if you really want this you can do it also. And the first week is the hardest....just muscle through it and be done.... p.s. I'm also not any more "bitchy" than normal.....lol.

A great alternative to the idea of noodles on your plate is the wonderful zucchini ribbons - I have this about once a week and it is absolutely wonderful! Add the lean, ie, cut up chicken or fish and it's a delicious dish! My favorite is to make the zucchini, then add my 7 oz. of a seafood mix..... like salmon, tuna and shrimp - all grilled of course. Its a gourmet meal! Last time I made it my hubs is looking at and says "oh, I'll have some of that!" I said, "sorry, it's all measured and weighed just for me - but next time I'll make enough for you!" So, I have 5 zucchini in the fridge and tomorrow night I'm making it for the 2 of us! YUMMY!.

The squash after cooking strings naturally in a way that resembles spaghetti..

Here is one method of cooking:.

Pierce in several places the squash with fork; place on microwavable paper towel in microwave oven. Microwave on High 8 minutes; turn squash over. Microwave 8 to 11 minutes longer or until tender. Let stand 10 minutes..

Cut squash lengthwise in half; remove seeds and fibers. Remove spaghetti-like strands with 2 forks.
