You're only asking for trouble if you do. Stear clear of domains containing trademarks.
-Bill..
LOL - sure you can, dont worry that ebay have spent millions of $$$ branding there name, I'm sure they wont mind you jumping on there success, go for it.
*incase you cant tell, I was being sarcastic*.
That kind of trademark infringement will land you in serious trouble, best to stay away from trademarked domains, do you squat in real life?..
Well it's fine to reg if you use it for something else thn auctions lol..
Like giving away free banana's..
I'll take the flak, but here is the best piece of advice you will ever get here....
"Read My Sig"..
Other than "don't pee on the electric fence", that is.
In all honesty - you'd be hard pressed to use this as a vehicle for giving away free bananas - the name is just too specific.
-Allan..
Well, the site intents to use the ebay affiliate program... does this make any difference?..
I suppose it does make a difference. You would have strengthened their case against you. You have gone from owning a domain with an infringing mark to actually profiting from their trademark.
In your example you have chosen 1 of the most protective companies on the internet. They actively keep an eye on newly registered domain names and pro actively take steps to curb infringing domain names...
I has been proven, nothing will happen just peeing on it, but if you accidently touch..........
Apart from being a trademak infringement it's specifically against the ebay affiliate terms to have 'ebay' in the URL.
Also "Don't eat yellow snow"..
Or the brown snow if it is close to the yellow snow very near an electrical fence..
Hi, really don't waste your money.
I know. In the past I bough ebayvideo.com because I was selling streaming video that worked on ebay. Shortly thereafter, I received a nice letter making it known that I was in clear violation of their brand/trademark and if I put anything on the site they would pursue litigation. Looking back, it was a foolish name to register, and so I just let it drop.
Now that I have a few, not so well branded, trademarks of my own, I know that you can monitor these things and you basically feel/are cheated when someone uses a name that you spent a lot of time/sweat/money to promote.
I deserved the letter that I received and you will surely get a letter too, and no it doesn't matter if it is an affiliate program or if you bow down and say you love ebay; it's about brand protection and that is all.
Best of luck with your affiliate program!..
Eh? http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2003/10/m..._bricks_t.html.
I can attest to this one as well - it doesn't kill you, but it scares your best friend for weeks.
-Allan..
I saw the third rail episode and that is what I based my theory on. I did not see the fence one, I wonder what the difference would be? But I stand corrected. No peeing on electric fence... check..
