I've heard people complain about domain tools where they can see your searches and the next day the domains are registered. I searched yesterday for 3 domains on dotster and all 3 were available for registration. Today, all 3 are taken. Oddly enough, the whois says they have been registered for awhile now. WTF? Then why could I have bought them yesterday? BS!..

I don't know but I am hyperparanoid about that stuff so I NEVER search for a domain until I am ready to buy it right then..

I am probably insane, but it works for me...

Registars have been known to do this for awhile now..

I had no problems whatsoever with using nic.net, I wouldn't really trust anyone else...

From what I've seen Bulk Check doesn't do that..

Just a glitch in the whois query. I've seen 3 letter .com's and some nice one word's show up as open for reg and that's not possible.....

Yeah, I used to work for an ISP that sold domains, if the whois database connection that they use goes down (and it can happen frequently at peak times) then the domains show up as being available..

I know it can be annoying but I usually check several whois sources before committing to buying a domain...

This happened to me like 3 times in the past,so now I make sure I buy it even if I'm remotely interested...

I'm paranoid about that too, ever since it happened to me a couple of times with various registrars, godaddy comes to mind for this once. I never run a single domain search on big domain seller sites anymore if I'm really interested in something.

I also seen this happen when running a domain name through certain domain info search tools to see any history or anything. If you use anything like that, don't wait to long after to reg it. I wouldn't be surprised if people put these tools on their sites just for that very purpose..

It makes me even more paranoid when it happens to be an abstract name that you make up... I mean what are the chances right?.

Could be just coincidence but it's just so disappointing when it happens.

Best bet is to sneak them into a bulk search. If they want to get your name bad enough they'll have to register them all...
