Ive bought a hosting and registered a domain with hostican with a domain name that Ive been eyeing since last year. I bought it last feb 10. First problem I encountered with them, the domain took more than 24 hrs to porpagate. Ive submitted a ticket and they said I should wait for 24hrs. Then yesterday I check on namecheap if the domain has been registered to me but to my surprise it's still available. Today, I check it's again, it's registered and I was happy but when I visited the url, it's now a park domain.

Submitted a new ticket to support again, the domain name appears on the subject line I guess cause when I receive a reply it's on the subject and I have to fill the domain field when submitting a ticket.. I read their reply and they said " whats is the domain" I was like wt???, cant you see it's on the subject.. so I replied again and viola.. This break my heart.

Sorry but this domain was already registered. We apologise that our ordering system accepted it for new registration. Please provide us with new domain that will be registered instead of current..

It was created 2 days after I bought it with them.. Is this just a coincidence? Is it possible that a domain would show up as available even though it's already taken??..

It could if the propagation is taking unnaturally long, but 2 days? That's of some concern..

This issue is black and white..

If you paid for the domain 2 days ago and have a receipt that says you registered it, and somehow someone mysteriously registered it 2 days after that, then you can claim ownership and get the domain back. If this is the case, it sounds like something fraudulent happened or some big mistake..

If you never paid for it and don't have a receipt of ownership, then you didn't "register" it ever and have no rights to it...

It could have been in pending delete or so when it showed as available, it happens..

And then it got caught by a dropcatcher..

If your'e lucky it was caught by a domain kiter and will drop in 5 days...

Had the domain dropped and you grabbed it ? or had it been available to buy for some time ?

I had a case with hostican before. I sensed something shady on how they deal with clients. I cancelled my hosting account and fortunate enough to still get the domain..

Not a good host IMO...

No the domain has been available since last January or December. I was waiting for the articles that Ive ordered before I bought the domain.... So basically, it's not a drop domain. I bought the domain together with their hosting. Feb 10, I bought it together with their hosting. The next day, I check in namecheap and they still havent registered it. Feb 12, I found out it's registered but not to me so I contacted support and thats what they said,.

I felt so mad and angry I cancelled my hosting account with them. The date is is based on my paypal account..

Feb. 10, 2008 - bought hosting with domain.

Feb. 12, 2008 - I cancelled the account.

Feb. 13, 2008 - Refunded.
