Does 15 minutes chargers damage the AA batteries?

.Hi everyone!! I already have the La Crosse RS900 charger for my Sony HVL 32X flash which consumes allot of battery power. This charger charges AA 2000mAh in about 2.5 hours which I think is too slow if you are in a hurry or on vacation. I was thinking about buying a ansmann 15 minutes charger but I'm not very sure if it would damage the batteries or not. I mainly use Sanyo Eneloops. Does anyone use both types of chargers for their needs? Many thanks!..

Fast charger makes a lot of heat and it kills the battery..

I have a VARTA 15 min charger BUT.............. My batteries are "15min" also. The charger.

Senses if the right type of battery is present and a little fan starts blowing to cool them off during those 15 mins. If I put regular batteries in, it charges them the conventional way ie 12 hrs or so. Bottomline: It's not a good idea to supercharge batteries that aren't suited for it. They may get very hot and really catch fire or explode.Just buy an extra pair of batteries much safer...

I had a 15 minute charger with a fan to cool the batteries. It killed several sets of batteries, including the batteries that came with the charger. I switched to the Sanyo eneloop system with a slow, overnight charger...

Avoid those fast chargers and just buy a couple of sets of Eneloops.....or change to lithium AAs.Regards,Hank..

Maha has just released their IMEDION batteries. they are incompetition with enloops. maha says that they are completely compatable with their own chargers which were designed for their other rechargable batteries..

I have got a mh c801d 8cell chrger from maha and it charged the imedion batteries just fine. that charger is a computer controlled individual cell charger..

Thompson distributing has the imedion batteries in groups of 4 selling for 9.97us as a introductory price right now. I bought 4 sets, got them in 3 days...

I really don't understand why your suggestion saves money in the long run? Compared to buying regular AA batteries? Please explain your opinion..

And yes 15 minute chargers to reduce the battery life and battery capacity over time; however, rechargeable batteries are so cheap now that it's really a moot point about charging speed. It was an issue when NiCad rechargeable batteries were a bit more expensive and they could take fewer recharge cycles in their lifetime...

Rayovac's have the same technology and are a lot cheaper since Walmart sells them. I've only seen eneloops sold at Ritz so they are expensive..

I've also seen duracell now selling pre-charged longer lasting charge AA batteries now too. They were sold in 6 packs - how stupid...
