I am thinking of the NV24HD or TZ5. I heard lots of great thingsabout the TZ5, but the NV24HD wins when it comes to wide zoom andAperture range. The NV24HD however, has only 3,5x zoom, while the TZ5has 10x..
TZ5 has better lens (sharper, less distortion & fringing problems) and good movie mode. However it is not pocket friendly..
Have a look at Panasonic FX500 too, which has wider angle 5x zoom, A/S/M modes, HD movie, ultra-compact size..

There's also the Panasonic FX35, with 25100 lens..
I think, judging by what I've seen written about the Samsung, that you'd be better off with one of the three Panasonics that shoot HD movies than the Samsung. Two of them have 25mm wide-angle lenses and the FX500 has a longer zoom to boot, and a touch screen interface. They all have better lenses..

After looking on the specs of the FX500, I must say it looks good. However there is no in-depth review available. How is the lens -> picture quality of the FX500 compared to the TZ5?I think the TZ5 is still a acceptable size..
The FX35 however is worse than the FX500 on most specs like zoom and Aperture range..
After reading some more about the Samsung, I'm not considering it any more either..
So the choice is now between the TZ5 and the FX500.What do you guys think?..

The aperture range is of little consequence in small cameras like these. Doesn't make any difference to the photos..

Do you want long zoom and video zoom (TZ5) or relative compactness and manual controls (FX500)? That's what it boils down to..
Will this be your only camera? If so, I'd go for the TZ5, which has the widest range of abilities..

Personally I won't feel comfortable with a camera which does not have A/S/M modes. FX500 also has NR control option. Ultra-Compact size is icing on the cake. If you want to use auto mode then TZ5 is the way to go for it's versatile zoom and ability to zoom during movie clip shooting..BTW FX500's lens is good enough not to be a deciding factor between he two.Best Wishes, Ajayhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ajay0612Thanks for your time...
