I've asked all over and nobody seems to know... I'm looking for a data center within an hour of Springfield, Missouri..

I'll be adding 1-4 new servers (4U each) next year to zensix and sending them off to other states just makes me nervous. I'd rather have them close by....

So far, the only provider I have even found is but their prices are crazy and they don't answer e-mails or phone calls, so screw them..

Anyone know of a place around here?..

TulsaConnect - Tulsa Colocation, Tulsa Data Center, Tulsa Rack Space, and Tulsa Dedicated Server Hosting Is that more than an hour away?..

Yeah, it's about 3 hours away and I've actually talked to those guys in the past. It's still better than colo'ing to Florida, but a data center that doesn't require me to take an entire day off to visit would be best...

There are places in KC and STL. I currently have some Colo in KC...

That's definitely within an hour, plus I'll be going to Branson in a few weeks... maybe I can check the place out. I've sent them an e-mail... but damn, their site is ghetto, lol...

Yup, sooo 1997. Maybe they just concentrate on the servers?..

I think Jack Henry purchased some space in this 'mountain' for their DR data center. I didn't realize any one was hosting out of there yet, the fiber is still fresh...

I just saw your post on WHT, but I thought I'd respond here. See if you can get some direct quotes from SpringNet, or see if they can tell you any local customers of theirs (on site, or off-site) offer colo..

The problem with getting colo space out of major cities is that the transport cost of bandwidth will increase the cost of bandwidth, and may even offset the cheaper real estate costs (unless a company decides to build an underground datacenter, apparently...). I can't seem to find anything out in that area, or nearby cities - Springfield is pretty much the biggest city around that area..

I would recommend finding some colo space in KC or STL where you can get remote hands services if needed. Here in St. Louis, your main options would be something at the Bandwidth Exchange building (210 N Tucker), 710 N Tucker or 900 Walnut (formerly also a Bandwidth Exchange building, sold a year or so ago). Some options that I'm aware of are Xiolink, Cybercon, and Datotel, and I'm pretty sure they all offer remote hands and KVM over IP.

Are you finding colo to be a better deal than dedicated once you get the server specs, or do you just want more control?..

Thanks for the recommendations, I might give the place in KC a call on Monday since I'm going up there next week anyway..

As for SpringNet, I've been trying to just talk to someone from there for a while. I know people that have servers there and I just talked to a guy today that used to work for them... the data center sounds nice, but it doesn't sound like there's too many people working there. I sent them an e-mail two or three days ago and I'm still waiting....

And I'm looking into colo for both the price and being able to handle the server myself if I need to. That and I've got two quad-core servers sitting in my closet right now...

Lol... well SpringNet finally got back to me. In short, they are full of lulz..

We do not offer managed services at all. We specialize in providing the facility, and the redundancy to both electrical and IP services. Our rackspace begins at $300 per month plus your electrical usage. Our Internet rates begin at $350 per month for service...

Yea, they won't touch your machine at all. I think I figured it out to be about 750$ a month just for a 1/3 a rack last time I checked...

Internet rates? Nothing like quoting in any sort of term that would matter, like Mbps.....
