I always read posts of people buying domain for 5bucks or 2 bucks from Godady, I reckon they use some sort of coupons, does anyone know where to get those or where to watch out for announcements of domain name discount sales?..

Not sure if this is what you wanted but whenever I buy domains at Godaddy, I use the coupon code SAVENOW and it takes 10% off of my order no matter how big or small the order is...

I *think* godaddy gives you really cheap domains if you buy hosting packaged with it. I got my first hosting package with godaddy, but it's so limited I switched pretty quickly. Its cheap hosting, and you get what you pay for..

Thanks as well for the coupon code heads up as well, I usually register my domains with godaddy...

1and1 has .coms for $5.99 with free privacy protection. Their admin interface has no bulk functions though...

I always pay around 10 bucks a year for a domain. Never knew that they'd go for less then 5 dollars...

That's a good deal too, I always take the privacy protection...

I do prefer a domain-seller to have a wide array of options when it comes to setting up sites and connecting dns and stuff. I really wasted time on emailing and waiting them to set those dns adresses proparly...

1and1.com lets you do that, but you can't do in in bulk...

If you buy from GoDaddy you get on their email list, that's where they send out a lot of good deals ever so often. I have so many domains at this point that me and my pal Mark bought a reseller account through GoDaddy mainly so we could buy from ourselves at discounted rates. We get domains for around $7 or so each now any time we want them..

Also watch Yahoo Small business section for $2.99 deals. I took advantage of a bunch of those at one point...

Hmm guess I shouldnt have disabled emails from godaddy...

Do you guys think it's a hassle buying domains at a different site than where you host it?..

The code "DIGG" also gives 10% off, or it did the last time I bought a domain, which was a week or so ago...

No, but some domain registrars make it very difficult to connect the domain to another host, always check there is some sort of panel to do that yourself...

It doesn't have to be a hassle if you choose a good registar...I'd buy domains from my host if they had the options I want, and since Dreamhost doesn't offer privacy protection, I have to look elsewhere...

Titus is correct. With Godaddy, if you buy anything that isn't a domain name, along with your domain name purchase, then it's $1.99 per year for the registration..

I'm not sure if you can couple this with the SAVENOW coupon...

Ipower.com has domains for 2.95 for the first year, plus free private whois. good deal...

Thanks for all the heads up, some great deals here will deffo have to check them out. I love a good bargain...

I wish I would have known about these coupons last week...

I always used to buy my domains from Godaddy, but it is just too much of a pain in the ass. I can never remember that stupid account ID number or whatever they call it and God forbid you forget it, because it is nearly impossible to retrieve.

Plus their telephone support isn't toll free and you end-up on hold forever. Not to mention that I once bought hosting from them, canceled in the grace period and then had to stay on hold for forever and a day just to try and get my refund..

Yeah, you can keep Godaddy. I have since gone with Aplus.net and I'm quite happy with them...

I use godaddy to but I totally HATE getting spammed with offers I don't want. You try to register your domain asap and next thing you know theres a hosting package in your cart. goddamn scammers..

Oh, and another thing. I registered a site through GoDaddy once with privacy protection. When the renewal came up I decided that privacy was an unnecessary expense. Trying to find the link to change my listing to public was like trying to find the Holy Grail. I called customer service for an assist and it took three of their own employees to find the f'ing thing!..

I only use NameCheap, I think the $8.88 that their domains cost is worth the cash...

Just used that coupon you mentioned Jon, thanks for posting it...

I use http://www.directnic.com/.

They sure are not as cheap as whats been discussed but their control panel is fine. I don't like to use the host's domain buy service becuase... well sometimes I change hosts!.

Really if your talking about buying a domian for a site that you intend to maintain for many years. Weather it's $5 or $25 a year thats not a lot of investment for a site domain...

I get the emails but never want to buy a domain when the offers are on. The coupon code will be usefult though, thanks Jon..

Do you happen to live in southern california? I'm in San Diego, which is where A+ is. They're pretty popular around here as they advertise in all the local computer publications. I was just curious if you herd of them 'cause you live around here, or if they are a really well known company...
