My pick would be the Canon SD950, mostly because it says "Canon" on it, and it packs a 1/1.7" sensor..
Thank Youand what do you thnk about SD890 ??..
I had two SD890s and retuened both the out-of-camera image quality was very poor (in my opinion), meaning if I need to do extensive post-processing on almost all pictures, why bother with this camera in the first place?.
I tried the SD790 instead and found the image quality markedly better to the SD890. The only thing I found I missed was the 5X optical zoom..
I have just used the Panasonic TZ5 for 400+ shots on a 4-day family vacation. I am very happy with the IQ there. At least as good, as the SD790 the outdoor shots especially I found better than the SD790 as are the indoor shots with flash (indoor shots without flash seem to be better on the SD790 when shooting "fully automatic"...when using manual mode, the TZ5 is better here too). The only pictures where I found the SD790 better was in macro mode with extreme close-ups here, the SD790 seemed to pick up much more fine detail. It probably would not be noticeable in prints at all though..
And guys what do you think aboutfujifilm finepix f100fd ??..
I have not owned any of these particular camera models. But I have been very happy with both Canon and Fuji cameras that I have owned. Reviews indicate that the Canon SD950 has an edge over the Fuji F100fd on flash performance. If that happens to be a key issue for you. Otherwise, I would take a careful look at the LCDs for both cameras. A LCD that is extra bright, or has an extra wide viewing angle, can be a joy..
Thank you .. i'm now in between of G9 or SD950but the 950 looks much modern than G9..
A) It seems you don't have any particular application in mind. e.g. Do you prefer more zoom or more wide angle view? What about controls required? Size?.
B) Fuji F100fd has one of the best 5x zoom lens with wide angle view among compacts. For Auto mode shooting and pocket-friendliness, Top Choice..
C) For manual controls, Panasonic FX500 will top the list (wide angle 5x zoom, A/S/M modes, NR controls, ultra-compact.)..
D) Among Canon SD series (if you prefer that) just pick up the desired zoom range and buy. No need to worry about insignificant differences on IQ..
E) G9 is not pocket friendly. It is better camera overall with it's Raw mode, sharp lens and good handling. IQ wise no difference vis a vis SD950IS if you shoot JPGs. (slightly more fine details can be extracted if you shoot in Raw mode on G9)..
Thank you .. i'm now in between of G9 or SD950but the 950 looks much modern than G9.
