If you tell us what kind of pictures you plan to take it will be easier to offer some advice. Indoor, outdoor, landscape, action or...?Also is video important or not?.

I don't think you should choose simply because you like the brand, but rather because the camera meets your requirements.Regards,Peter..

Hello.

Of course I read all spec of them, like many other models like sony H9 and panasonic ....

Really recording is not important for me! I have a JVC Camera!Outdoor is more important for me..

I'm not very advanced but I'm learning photography... ).

The strength of the S5 is it's video mode, so if you don't need that it becomes a lot less appealing..

Advantages of the S5:Longer telephoto ("zoom") range.Smaller, lighter.

Advantages of the S9600:Better sensor (should work much better in low light).Mechanically linked zoom ring (better than the engine zoom of the S5).Much better wide angle range (important!)..

Two more things:.

1) The S9600 is larger/heavier - you should make sure you can live with it. 2) I haven't seen a review of the 9600, only related models - so I only know it through specs (and through reviews of other Fuji models)..

If you're okay with the above two points, you really should go for the Fuji. It's an excellent camera if it's still available where you live..

The Fuji has a 28mm wide angle on the zoom which will make it much more adaptable than the Canon (which starts at 36mm) for Landscapes and Interiors..

If you're still interested in the Fuji, take a look at my "Back to the bridge Camera" link below where you might find find my blog/review quite interesting..

I have the feeling though that the Canon will do more of the work for you (out of the box OK photos) whereas the 9100/9600 is more like a DSLR in terms of benefitting from post processing in about 25% of shots where the light is difficult. The Fuji also sharpens quite aggressively so RAW setting might be needed to get the very best from it. Also it doesn't have Image Stablisation. However, it doesn't really need it as it is such a good sized and well balanced camera. There is also a screw threaded cable release socket making it easy to set the camera on a surface for stability and activate the shutter. (You could also use the self-timer.)..

Fuji also has a hot shoe and PC socket if that means anything..
