I'm looking for a nice mid-range point & shoot camera and I narrowed it down to the canon sd-750 elph and the sony cybershot w80.but now I have no idea what will be the better buy in terms of image quality.I'm really not into a cameras ability to start up fast or take continuous pictures every second(which I think the sony w80 will be better in).but more into vivid colors and sharper images with very little distortion. So,what will be the better choice? really need help in deciding ,so somebody please help!..

More into vivid colors and sharper images <<< Canon is known for vivid colors... and in a mid-range p&s are the differences gonna really be all that different from two high quality shooters, especially if you're mostly gonna be shooting 4X6 or 5X7's? PS I just ordered the 750 for myself. The two selling points for me were the 3 inch screen which I read great comments on and it *is* what we look at most for taking pics, isn't it? The overall layout of the camera operation just seemed the most intuitive to me of the cameras I looked at. I also just loved the design of the little guy I'm willing to compromise a bit on pic quality to have the above features...

I want to buy High-Power Flash HF-DC1 for my SD750, but I am not sure whether I really need it or not. Is there anyone who owns it? Also, how will I connect it to the cam? Do I need to make some adjustments in the setup menu?..

Its a simple slave flash, it detects the flash from your camera ( and indeed anyone elses flash in the room ) and fires. It has a bracket to attach to that also screws into the tripod adapter on the camera, or you can just prop it anywhere in the room you want...

Trying to choose between the ELPH 1000 with 2.5 inch display and the ELPH 750 with a 3 inch display I am confused over the closing remark in the review of the ELPH 750: "But the Canon SD750's image quality was the biggest disappointment. Most of my images were soft throughout, skies were strangely blued and shade shots showed a pronounced blue color cast. All of this was barely detectable on the Canon SD750's large, bright LCD, which just made for greater disappointment. Overall, the Canon SD750 is a pretty good choice, but we think the less expensive Canon PowerShot SD1000 is a better choice unless you just have to have the big, beautiful screen on the Canon SD750." Studying several sample photos I find it hard to recognize this issue in praxis. Is this this just a random error? Or is this related to the other comment in the review about: "Silver vs. Black.

It happens sometimes, but watch for it from any manufacturer." Or is this random error to? I like the traditional design og the ELPH 1000, and I also like the 3 inch of the ELPH 750, and I can live without a viewfinder, but I cannot live with soft or unsharp details, just because of choosing the wrong model over the other. Any comments?..

I bought a Cannon SD750 and am very happy with it. It's easy to use and has a lot of features that make it more than a basic point and shoot. The 3" screen gives a good image even outside. For 279 bucks I think it's a good deal. ED..

I have a Canon SD750 ELPH and have been enjoying it. I had no trouble uploading pictures to my PC with a USB Cable. Yesterday, I took some pics and went to upload and it said my camera cannot be located. I've tried different ports, battery is fully charged and have not changed anything. I cannot figure this out. I am using VISTA OS.

Many thanks!..

You can order accessories from Canon: I'm sure most authorized Canon dealers would carry the charger, or would be able to order it for you...

I have the SD 750 and have just loved it up til now. I have misplaced the instruction booklet and can't figure out why my shots are all blury. I don't know squat about cameras ...and my screen is FULL of icons that I have no idea what they are. The close up shots seem great...the others, even outside, are so blurry, I have to delete them. I need a book and don't know where to get one......

You can download a manual from Canon's USA website:
