Hi! I've done quite a bit of reading regarding the Elph series and am about to buy an SD450. The reasons are primarily because of the more compact size, the newer 5 megapixel sensors have the previous generations' bugs tweaked out of them, really not a big difference between 5mp and 7.1mp unless your truly enlarging(11x17i.e.), and the new lcd screens are reinforced against cracking - but get a screen protector in any case. I mean really, save a few bucks and get a more proven camera. The extra hundred is always useful for a spare battery, larger SD card, and maybe even a case...

I'm considering a Canon SD450, but heard something about screen breakage and that Canon was not helpful, has anyone experienced this?..

My Husband and I bought ours last month and are very fond of this camera. I would recommend it highly...

I am far from home in Ukraine and bought my Elph right before going to the airport which meant I left my Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk Version 25 in NYC! Any advice on what I can do?..

I read your review, looked at all the comparison shots, and bought one. It's size was the kicker. Something that I could just shove in my pocket and take anywhere. Wow! This is it. Photos are georgeous with no hassel. I did not read the manual (which is excellent) at first, just picked up the camera and started messing with it.

Thanks for your site!..

I bought my SD450 4 months ago and am very happy wih it. I don,t find the menu controls quite as intuitive as the tester seems to find them...

My son just had his LCD on a 5 month old SD450 shatter. He had it in it's case (a semi-hard internally padded case) and since we live in Tx temperature drops were not an issue. He does not remember bumping it or dropping it anytime. I have not yet contacted Canon (or my credit card Co.) to talk about warranty coverage but I am not hopeful considering what I have read else where about Canon's willingness to help their customers...

Can assure you that the movies are phenomenal...with a 60fps 640x320 res, it's pretty much the best you can get. even if no one uploads a movie here, don't let it hinder you from getting this camera.

The only thing I don't like about htis camera is the battery that comes along with it...please buy another battery at least 800mah.....

Do you mean 320x240 at 60fps (limited to 1 minute), or 640x480 at 30fps?..

Yes you will have to pay about $100.00 plus S&H to get the unit repaired..

I bought a used SD450 and it almost works perfectly. Pictures are perfect and the video it takes are good image quality but the audio is choppy. It fades in and out constantly. Like I'm putting my finger on and off of the mic. I emailed canon and they just told me to send it to them. I have to get the receipt from the original owner in order to do that though... Is there any way to upgrade the firmware of Canon cameras? Was hoping that would be a fix...

Well I have no idea what I did but the audio problem was solved. I reset the camera back to factory defaults when I had the problem and that didn't do anything. I reset it a few more times, took a lot of pictures, and recharged the battery a few times. Took a bunch of videos over the weekend and the audio on all of them was fine...

I recently bought the Canon Power Shot SD 450. It takes great pictures, however I can't the "date stamp" option. I even took the camera to several different camera chops and they can't set the date stamp option either. Does any one have step by step instructions? Thanks...

We have a problem with a Canon SD450. This was a replacement bought over ebay. We liked the previous camera, but spilled coffee on it. The new one seems to produce pictures with patches washed out, too much brightness, too much contrast between light and dark. I don't know if it had this from the start. The old camera seemed to work fine in the auto mode...

I have a Canon SD450 and am very pleased with it.

But I have some large video clips (0.99 gb) on the SD card that I cannot download them. I can watch the clips with no problem on the camera, but cannot download them. I can still use the SD card for other photos - I can talk photos and download them - no problem. When I put the SD in my computer build in SD card slot, it says the card is nto formatted. When I try with the "Scanner and Camera Wizard" the error is simply: "The current picture cannot be copied".

 Any advice? THANKS !!!..
