Hi! I have an earlier version of the digital elph and was considering moving up to the 410 model. On the older model, one shortcoming in the design was that there was no battery charge life display. It wasn't until the battery was nearly tapped out that there was some sign. Has this changed?.
Thanks in advance!..
I just purchased the S410. Great little camera. Unfortunately, it does not have a meter for battery life. It just has the same warning when the battery is running very low. That is a nice feature my Sony DSC-P10 has. So, my plan is just to have a second charged battery on hand in case the first one dies suddenly...
Hi, just wondering, when you use the continuous shot, is there the option to use is the flash or is it automatically disabled once you select continuous shooting?..
I have a Canon S410, and want to know if there is any significant difference in using Ultra II CompactFlash compared to the normal or Ultra card. Thank!.
Compact flash II is much faster. You might want to take a look at this article.
I just purchased the S410 a week ago. Overall, the camera is above average. Small/compact/durable. Fast startup and good quality outdoor images. I wish there was a way to adjust the shutter speed though. Some of my indoor photos are blurred (flash would have over exposed the image).
And the movie quality's a bit choppy. My old Sony cybershot S50 (great camera) has an AC adapter you can usd while charging the batter within the camera. Canon might want to consider having that option...
Great camera. Dont listen to too many of the picky details, such as flimsy compartment covers, lack of manual controls, low battery warnings, etc. These are basically meaningless, unless you are overly anal about your toys, or are a pro-photographer and want to spend time 'playing' with settings. Picture quality is excellent, even in auto mode, and manual adjustments allow a nice amount of creativity, at least for this amateur. Macro produces nice shots (I'm a flower fan and colors are impressive). You will not be disappointed if you are a casual photographer interested in outdoor shots under normal lighting conditions.
Absolutely invest in an extra battery and keep on hand...
I have an S410 that delivers soft focus pictures. It doesn't seem to be able to give a crisp sharp picture no matter what size or compression I use. I have tried it with AiAF off, with it set for infinity, but it makes no difference. I have tried it outdoors on a tripod on a sunny day at ISO 50, and it's still fuzzy. Anyone else having this problem. Under the same conditions my Coolpix 990 delivers sharp pictures...

My suggestion is go for S410.. Image quality is excellent than any other point and shoot.. Z40 sucks....
