I have a question: I've had my A540 for about 5 months, and even with the freshest set of NiCads (2700 mAh, since someone will ask), the recycling time, if the flash is used (on auto or manual, regardless of how bright or dim the subject is) is 15-30 seconds, during which time no camera function works. Is this just the normal expectation for this model, or should I send it in for repair?.

I accidentally dropped my A540 (i put it in my pocket not knowing it's torn), it hit the concrete floor. whew! hopefully, it still works normal. I brought it just 1 week ago. I noticed that the case seems separated just a bit, so a managed to press it back. i'm glad, it's operating. very tough camera even with a plastic cover.

In fact the LCD is great, less pixels means less power consumption. all that you need to do is make a common reference for your shot that it's the best shot at that particular display in the LCD. and you're done. remember, superb photographers of old days shot even not knowing instantly if it's good or not. yeah, i'm glad by this LCD, large display..

I've had my A540 for a week or so and mine recycles in 5-10 seconds, even when I've taken 100 or more pictures. I've read of others with the same problem, so maybe I'm just lucky...

Ive had my A 540 for two month and mine recycles in 5-10 seconds. So I guess that 30 seconds is a long time to do it.

I would critizied the big difference between what you see in the viewfinder and what you see in the lcd display ( the actual photo).

I dont like the lcd display because my hands are not so firm like if I put the camera close to my face...

I always get a message that the camera is shaking when I press halfway to focus. I even tried putting it on a table to ensure that it would be very still, but I keep getting the same message. Also, my pictures are often out of focus, could it be related?..

Re: Cycle time - I've notioced that if my batteries are getting low and I'm using the LCD display (a further drain) Cycle time is increased drastically. If you're going with heavy use of the flash, be ready to change batteries often...

I have had my Canon A540 for 7 months now and it takes great pictures. Everytime I return from an outing I download my photos to my PC and delete from camera. Now all of a sudden after I take 7 photos it says my memory card is full. How can that be? I cannot find anywhere on the camera where refresh memory card? Does anyone know how to help?..

Look for an option to format the card in one of the cameras menus, do not format in a card reader via the computer...

I am 82 years old and my children bought me a CanonPowerShot540. It is easy to carry, easy to take pics, etc. But, I need help in using myCanon copier with the camera as well as using the camera to put pics on my computer screen. Is there someone at Canon who could take me thro the steps?..

I cannot find a way to put the date on my photos on my CanonPowerShot 540...is there a way? Can someone help? I know how to set the date and time, but the date does not show up on the photos...

As far as I know that is only available when the resolution is set to postcard mode, ie 1600x1200. See if the latest version of Zoombrowser can watermark photos with the date and time, otherwise try freeware such as Irfanview or Exifer. All modern cameras embed shooting information into the photo, date, time, zoom, exposure etc and this can be read and retrieved by many programs...
