I recently purchased a Canon A20 and am extremely happy with it.

I am planning a trip to Nepal and want to have my pictures professionaly developed as 4x6 prints and am wondering what is the best resolution to use to get the best pictures at the smallest size. I recently purchased a Canon A20 and I want to have my pictures developed as professional 4x6 prints. I am wondering what resolution I should use to get the best print quality with the smallest picture size? Large/Superfine, Large/Fine.

Medium/Superfine, Medium/Fine Thanks in advance, Graham B...

I need a "hardcase" for my A20. I usually carry a lot of different stuff to school and I just dump them all in my backpack. I know that the leatherette case I have offers very little protection. Where and what kind of hardcase do you friendly folks would suggest? I am thinking of one that is made of plastic or any other material that is harder than the common leather or leather-like stuff. I don't mind a bit of bulk at all. Thanks. [[Peace to all living creatures]]..

I'm having trouble deciding between the canon powershot a20 and the sony dsc p-50 somebody please help me!..

I really don't know much about the Sony, but I do know you won't be disappointed with the Canon Powershot A-20. This is my second Canon camera (the first was a Powershot S10). Once you add a battery recharger and extra Ni-MH batteries and a larger CompactFlash Card, you'll have a very enjoyable package. Check for a great price on this camera...

I bought a Canon A20 recently; I am quite impressed with the abilities and picture quality of this little camera. But I have noticed the following.. 1- The Normal Alkaline batteries last only around 40 shots. However, if you leave them few hours (or days) you will get 20-30 more shots, even a lot more if you take your pictures two or three at a time !!! 2- When you move the Mode Dial from any mode to Play Back Mode, the lens used to retract immediately, having pressed few buttons (I do not remember which or in what mode), the lens now retracts after one minute from moving the dial. Can someone tell me if there is an adjustable timer, and how to set it back as before, or a reset all function? (Please notice that I am not talking about Auto Power Down, I think). TIA Shade..

Great minds thinking alike and all that aside...did you get good input on your question which is EXACTLY my question as well...What did you decide? I hope to make a purchase in the next two months or so and I am stuck between these two cameras. Also what do youthink about buying online? Is there a downside? The prices seem dramatically cheaper in some cases. Is there a risk that is a serious drawback?..

I, too, am thinking of buying the ps a20 as my 1st digi-cam. Can someone tell how long it takes to transfer 16 mb from the camera to a PC ? Also, what % of a full charge from chargeable batteries the transfer uses? I am trying to assess how important it is to buy a card reader to connect to the PC. Thanks................

Hi and I bought a Canon Power Shot S20 recently, and have been trying to work with the settings so to get good photos of my jewelry for my web page, well I should have never messed with the settings because now all of my pictures look as if my jewelry was made of neno lights, just awful, and I have tried to get them to return to the original settings, and just haven't been able to manage this, would someone please offer me a little help on this. My User Guide is beat to death and dog eared from use, so it's not like I didn't start there first, and these photos are really important to me.

TIA Robbie..

Hi Robbie, Your problem seems to be one of White Balance, Check on the info screen that you have AWB (third icon from top left). You probably have a sign of a light bulb. if this is the case, you can change that in Manual mode by pressing (+/-WB) button twice and adjust it to Auto (try the picture quality in this setting). I have no Idea of how to adjust that in Auto mode !! By the way, I visited two camera dealers, and checked the behavious of the Canon A20 regarding lense retraction (my previous message) and found them all not to retract the lense when you move the dial from Auto mode to Play Back mode.. Is there more than one firmware version in the A20 ?? Shade..
