canon or nikon for wedding photography
My buddy is looking to get into wedding photography and questioning what brand might be better for colors and IQ. I shoot nikon and not bias but don't do weddings either..

Canon is the only way to go. Buy L glass if you can afford it.What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about!Photo Gallery @ http://www.Digitalmike.smugmug.com.

Doesn't matter, but if you buddy doesn't already have this level of knowledge, he should stay away from ruining the most important day in the lives of many people..

Wedding photography is hard..

The Pro Forum is full of postings about wedding photography, and all too often shows really awful wedding pictures by bumblers who think the camera is the most important element..

As a Canon owner with no bias, I would say either one is fine..

If your buddy is seeking to get into wedding photography, I assume that he already has a DSLR and lenses. Why is he considering changing systems?Chris R..

BAK and I posted simultaneously, but I agree entirely with his comments.Chris R..

Well, he is a Canon user (I'm a Nikon one). Actually either will be fine, though some feel the high ISO performance of the Nikon D3 will tilt the balance in it's favour..

Good fast lenses are essential for low light, so for a Nikon a 17-55 f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, and 70-200VR f/2.8 would be the choice of many..

And it worries me that the only two makers considered are C & N....

Hassleblad is probably out of his price range .

But I agree with BAK and Chris too - wedding photography is not something you just step into...

Simply put, asking such a question shows the skills level is not enough to do the job of Wedding Photographer, so equipment does not matter..

As for what equipment would be needed by a Wedding Photographer who knows what to do and how to do it?.

Anything that records images. Even a cheap P&S would suffice, in a pinch.Dave PattersonMidwestshutterbug.com'When the light and composition are strong, nobodynotices things like resolution or pincushion distortion'Gary Friedman..

I agree, anyone who is asking this question shouldn't be a wedding photographer...
