Canon 400D, Oly E330 or Sony A100?
Hi, I'm a novice and need advice on which camera to buy. I've read a number of reviews on each of the above but want to put the question out there..

I'm keen on taking day to day shots and macro's for stock photography - any recommendations on model?.

There seems to be a number of negative reviews on the Canon 400D regarding the quality of images - do you think it significantly differs from the other two models (Oly E330 or Sony A100)?.

Thanks a mill!Mel..

NO. E330 on the other hand is noiser at higher ISOs, and has less DR, but it has swivel LCD (live-view). A100 is also noiser, but has I.S. I would buy A100 as it offers most value.Best Wishes, Ajayhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ajay0612..

Check out the E-510 from Olympus if you are somewhat serious or moving in that direction. Also the 410 is a nice step down and is a consumer model. Both are pretty cheap and some good deals can be found with the kit lens'. The oly lenses are pretty nice ... you can find reviews about their kit lenses outperforming other brands. Sorry I can't give specifics but even saying such could invoke the wrath of the less secure people who must defend their earlier purchase decisions or have nothing better to do than to make others wrong..

NB: I find the 50mm f2 Oly Zuiko lens for macro is one of the best I have ever used. With the Live View as well it makes macro so much more better..

As long as you aren't shooting at night where you should have a tripod you wont run into noise issues. Of course if you require high ISO and little noise like if you were a concert photographer then maybe look elsewhere ... although Oly's new E-3 is supposed to be leagues ahead of everything else they have in terms of less noise at higher ISO..

I own, Oly, Minolta, Nikon so am rather unbiased. Just my two cents..

All three cameras are solid choices. My recommendation is to go with the camera that feels most comfortable. That way you will take more pictures, learn more features and become a better photographer. I included my personal file on each camera for you so you will have access to all the documentation and customer service links once you decide which camera to buy..

If you are interested in macro photography, then of those you list I would go with either the Canon or the Sony. Olympus makes some excellent lenses, but there aren't many macro lenses for the Olympus mount. Of the two Olympus macro lenses only one reaches 1x magnification, and it has a 35 mm focal length and a very short working distance. There are, however, several Sigma macro lenses in the Olympus mount..

Will you still be taking photos 10 years from now? If so, then I suggest that you buy the Canon..
