The S2 uses MJPEG/WAVE formats in an AVI file. Compression ratio isn't very high. Only about 4 minutes of 640x480 @30fps video on a 512MB card. Stills at the highest resolution and Superfine quality range from about 1MB to about 3.5MB depending on complexity, so you can expect somewhere around 200 pics on a 512MB card on average...
How soon might I expect a review of the S2? I'm seriously considering the purchase of a S2, but I'd like expert advice first...
Probably early June before we see full reviews of the S2. We might see a preview based on a pre-production model before that. Maxx..

Sorry for the *slow* response, I've gotten way behind in my forums correspondence (too many reviews to do). We have a Canon S2IS in-house for review, but it's still a few cameras down the queue. I think it's going to be such a hot model though, that I'm working to push it ahead in the queue a little. Even doing that though, it's likely to be another good 2 weeks before we can get it's review posted. It looks like a great camera, but I wouldn't want to come out and make a recommendation of it until we've really had time to get into it's innards...
With a 512Mb SD Card you can record.
About 3' 30'' with 640x480 30fps.
About 15'' 00 with 320x240 15fps.
And more that 300 pics high resolution I have an s2 with 1Gb SD..
