Camera with rapid shooting <$500
I recently purchased a Powershot A720IS. Not really happy with it. Not great in low lighting and terrible flash recycle..

I only shoot my kids. What camera has, without having to set it, rapid shooting mode? And is good for indoor pictures..

Thanks...

You might want to try an older model entry-level DSLR. Even an older DSLR will be faster and more responsive than almost any compact camera, and will also perform better at high ISO settings, which will be useful if you don't want to fire of fthe flash. Both the Nikon D40 and Canon Rebel XT can be had for under $500, including the kit lens..

A DSLR will also give you the flexibility to add on equipment as needed; an external flash (maybe $150) will give you a lot of flexibility with indoor lighting and will generally recycle very quickly, espcially if your willing to shoot at ISO 400 or so...

As a very general rule you'll have better flash recycle time on cameras that use lithium-ion batteries rather than AAs but this is only a very general rule...

If you really want to get the best pictures you should go with an entry level dSLR. I have a Nikon D40 ($480 online w/ kit lens) and love it. It is very easy to get great pictures with it and will shoot about as fast as you can push the button...

Great DR, no shutter lag, works well in low light (fewer pixels on a larger chip makes for better low light performance.) decent kit lens and will do almost 3 frames a second (which helps if they are moving quickly) 6MP will be more than enough for 8x10 prints and I often print at 13x19 with images from the D40...

You'll get faster recycle with an SD series camera. But low-light performance is where DSLR's shine...
