At the small end, for someone who thinks "anything will do", why can't you go through the camera suggester on this site, and see what it says?.

I have an A630 myself but even that is too large for my wife. She wants a nice, slim camera that takes nice pics, close-ups for hereBay stuff. Also want it cheaper than the Canon SD's.Any brand is OK for this cam..
My wife has been quite happy with her Nikon L series, small enough to pocket, uses AA batteries and SD cards, decent image quality and easy to use, and around $150. The big plus for me is my Pentax also uses AA's and Sd's so no need to purchase anything else for her camera..

Oh, I get it now. That easy, slim, cheap wife idea had me going for a minute..

I had to laugh when I re-read my post and mulled over, wife, easy, slim and cheap. And yes Alethia, I was talking about the camera..
I'll take a look at some of your suggestions..
Thanks for the laugh, Bob..
You woke up a little to late because I forwarded the post to your wife.Expect to receive some documents from a lawyer.. Her personal answer will come in an enveloppe marked 'third class male'...
Wow! If I referred to my wife as "easy, slim, and cheap" I'd be in a HEAP of trouble!.
Sorry, couldn't resist easily confused construction!..
My brother's wife, who is none of those things, has a little Sony DSC-T-something-or-other. I know they don't have a reputation for the greatest image quality but it's ok for an ultra-compact and more importantly it is easy to carry everywhere. My brother is supposedly the photographer in the family, but his wife takes by far the greater number of family pictures - because it is she who always has the little Sony in her bag...
