What are you going to be using the camera for?Outdoor shots?Indoor shots?Do you want some zoom? What other features are important to you? What are you going to take pictures of?Do you plan on making prints?..

Being that your only criteria is price you should look into the Canon A570IS for a camera that has great IQ and manual controls for creativity as well as scene and Auto modes. You should be able to find it for $150-175 from reputable vendors.Read the conclusion of the review to give you a nutshell synopsis.,Hank.

Honestly, I think that you'll be absolutely floored by the quality of an outdated, no longer made Olympus C2100 2 megapixel camera..

It came out in like 2001 or something & you might think to yourself; WHY WOULD I WANT AN OUTDATED, USED, USED CAMERA?.

The reason is that it takes terrific pictures for expressly what you've suggested. It's called the UZI by their owners and they are still making great pictures today. You can buy one on ebay if you're lucky. They are now becoming collectors items. These cameras are literally that good..

For their timeline in history and for their abilities and for their image quality, they are the premier choice. I expect that you won't do it; but I also expect that whatever you get won't be as good. That camera was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!..

Consider the Kokak Z712 for as low at $195 online. Might find it on sale at local stores between now and Christmas. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, even Shopko if in your area. Right here in dpreview go to main menu, select buying guide, then "side-by-side". Compare it to Hank's recommendation; I've never known him to be wrong.....lolngk20000..
