I've discovered that I have so many bad food habits related to being a mom. For example, yesterday I was fixing my kids (I have 3) a snack of apple slices with a bit of Nutella to dip them in. I caught myself just as I was about to lick the remaining Nutella off of the spoon..

Or if there is one little bite of something left at dinner, it's so easy just to say "It's just one spoonful" and gobble it down. Or "Mommy I can't finish my muffin. You have it." Or mindlessly grabbing a few Goldfish when I'm doling them out to the kiddos. The list goes on and on.

I've been on Medifast for 7 weeks now, and while it is getting much easier not to mindlessly eat, I still have to remain vigilant. I can't even begin to imagine how many extra calories I was getting a day just by eating a spoonful here, a nibble there. It sure adds up!..

I have 5 year old twin BOYS-that eat me out of house and home! YES, your right, it's way harder for us Moms. Especially those of us with small children..

All the "BLT's" (bites, licks and tastes) sure ad up! We must stay vigilant for sure!..

I can totally relate to this post! I have a really hard time throwing food away, so if my son only eats half of a sandwich, I don't want to see the other half go to waste and I gobble it down..

I'm gradually learning that it's ok to throw food away, and that it's the better alternative to putting it in my body. It's still very hard for me to do though! I find myself making my DH eat the leftovers now! LOL!!!..

I'm also realizing how much junk I let them have to justify my own bad habits. For instance, I would buy Doritos every once in a while "for the kids" but really I was the one who wanted them. It sounds so obvious now but at the time I really thought it was a treat for the kids! Same with sugar cereal..

I agree about the mindless BLT's. This morning I was fixing peanut butter sandwiches for lunch boxes. There is always a glop somewhere that needs wiping off and I always just lick my finger since it's easier than washing it in the sink. HA! I don't even want that taste in my mouth so I realized that the paper towels were right there (and have been all along LOL)..

I am a picky eater so it is easy for me to substitute out tempting kid foods for ones I don't like but they still do. I am in the process of changing over to new things they would like but don't tempt me.

Let's share ideas about this!.

Do not equate yourself with a garbage can. Your body is not where the "trash food" should be disposed of!..

I'm not a mom, but my own mom told me it is better to W-A-S-T-E than to W-A-I-S-T..

It's still hard to throw away food for me though, but I am learning...

My kids are grown but my bad MOM HABITstarted when they were younger. It was to have a treat for myself after they were all bathed and tucked into bed. Unfortunately that habit turned into a pint of Ben and Jerry's or a 1 pound bag of M and Ms, etc. etc. etc. and continued after they were grown up. That habit is now gone and my "treat" is a Medifast brownie or bar...

When I first started MF, I would chew a piece of gum while preparing food for my grandkids. I caught myself ready to take bite a few times. Can't do that while chewing gum...
