Book for learning photography

I have just bought a D80 with the 18-70mm lens and I am loving it. I have watched a couple of tutorial videos and am starting to grasp the concepts more. But I am thinking that a book showing techniques and how they are achieved would be good..

But I have worked with photoshop and computers for years so I don't want a book that goes into much detail on the digital process..

I have one book in my shopping basket at amazon and was wanting something else to complement it, do you have any recommendations?.

The Betterphoto Guide to Digital Photography (Amphoto Guide Series) - Jim Miotke.

Many thanks.

Thanks for posting that,.

The Scott Kelby seems to be quite popular, I may give it a go!.

I always seem to shy away from the Dummies books, but you reckon it's good?..

I agree The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby is good for someone starting out. They are not too technical and easy to follow. The Digital Photography Book is available as Volume 1 and Volume 2. The Volume 2 book picks up where Volume 1 left off and provides more information then was covered in Volume 1, but it is not a complete replacement to Volume 1. So if you are thinking about this book, you may want to get both volumes..

The Digital Photography Book is good, but I honestly think it's a little too basic. I strongly recommend The Kodak Guide to Digital Photography. I think it just released this year and is around $15 at Amazon. It covers almost every aspect of photography and isn't too technical or difficult to understand. If you're a first time slr user it will be money well spent. Kelby's books on Photoshop are outstanding though...

I have purchased all four authors. I can recommend "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson and "Starting Photography" by Michael Langford. I did not like Busch and really disliked Kelby's vol 1...
