Nikon L15 (8MP, AA batt, 3x zoom) - $129 (new on amazon). You may consider L11, 12, 13, 14 at still lower price. L12 & L15 have image stabilization..
Im after a slim camera the only trouble is I don't have a massivebudget so I don't mind buying an older model or second hand. Withthis in mind can someone recommend a decent slim camera with around 4or 5 megapixels and 3x optical zoom..

Have you looked at the Sony T range which are slim and still made by a firm that hasn't folded or sold out to some other firm? Look at what was reviewed two years ago and you might still find one or two for sale either new or re-furbished and so with a guarantee..
And there's Fuji and Panasonic as well and the Samsungs. It all depends on your budget and don't forget to allow for the media cards and a case etc..
Im looking to spend 65 maximum, I already have an mmc/sd card and I dont reallymind about cases..
I have looked at the Sony T range but they seem to be fetching quite alot on ebay. Where can I look for 2 year old reviews etc? Most sites iv found seem to only talk about recent cameras..

This is the best site for reviews, good or bad and they go back a bit. And look hard and you'll find all the reviews sorted by "Highly Recommended" etc..
Have fun, David..
Could someone just give me a list of cameras to check out.
Try looking at this list then looking at bargains. As I said the list is on this web-site..
At this time of year, post-Christmas, there will be sales on everywhere. Also look in Boots because they are not mainstream and carry a few digital cameras that get sold off cheaply. Prices from about 70 in my part of the world..
But you'll have to do a bit of homework..
My experience is that secondhand stuff can be a bit of a gamble and aan overhaul of a damaged camera can cost more than the camera. I was quoted 135 or so for a repair once and bought the same camera new for 80 a few days later. So look at cameras on the list that cost about 200 new and are now about 1 to 2 years old and you may be lucky to find one for a quarter the first price. But you have to search and look around you..
This is the best site for reviews as the do the most comprehensive job, another site would be http://www.stevesdigicams.com, it's fairly good and he keeps his reviews for quite some time in archive. Sorted by mega pixel counts, etc..
I myself am a Fuji F series fan for lowlight compacts, but in your price range I am not sure. The A series are okay, just more dumbed down versions..
If you like ultra slim cameras, some of the older Nikon and Casio and Panisonic modesl are fairly good, and should be available on the cheap on eekbay or other sites. Just remember no warranty....Some mfg's have refurbished available with limited warranty. You will need to do some research.A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?Ernst Haas..
